An ex-spa, Moffat has been a tourist destination for over 300 years.
2/3 hours rom the Midlands it attracts not only destination visitors, but is a popular stop off on the way to and from the Highlands .
Moffat itself is a superb jumping off point for an area rich in history and scenery.
A gorgeous coastline (see photo) is only 30 miles away and the area hosts an unusual number of artists.
The Solway estuary hosts vast numbers of migrating birds every spring and autumn and we have some of the largest colonies of red squirrels and natterjack toads. . Walkers who come here from the Lake District are stunned by the beauty and quietness of the local hills.
